We'll let other people Tour France today

Waiting for the excitement

A giraffe! With a squirrel tail. ...What?

Waiting some more

Note: This is NOT the Tour de France.
This was later, on a different street. Apparently on Sundays people rollerblade through the streets of Paris. So cool!

Bunniessss.

Chickenssss.

Gourmet variety of feed / seed.

Pigeon flaunting its freedom.

Lulu? Pixie?

That looks familiar...

Heyyy, so does that!

Lunch: shrimp/avocado salad and (surprise!) a croque-monsieur.

From Kat: Today ended up being a lot of sitting and standing places, but we welcomed it after all of yesterday's walking. In the morning, we went to a bird market on the other side of the river from our apartment, and planned to go to the Champs-Elysées after to watch the end of the Tour de France. But as we looked for lunch near the bird market (not AT the bird market), we noticed police officers beginning to block off the main street we were on, and we realized the race was going to come through there. So we decided to grab front row seats (stands?) to watch them there, rather than try to get to the Champs-Elysées at that point. We stood for about 2 hours and got a little sunburned, but it was worth seeing the bikers whizz by. After hearing about the excitement of the end of the race, though, we're a little bummed we didn't go to see that part, but it was still cool to experience it from where we did.

Time for bed, I think, my brain isn't functioning very well. Below is a scrappy video I took while they biked by. My favorite part is Mom pointing them out a couple times as they approached.

  1. What does a cockatiel sound like in French?! Love all your photos of the street life. David is thrilled that you got to see the cyclists. AJ
